Brief Description:  Drilling holes for Sky Bolts

Now that the flanges are in place and the cowling has been pretty well prepared, the next step is to drill holes for clecos that will eventually be enlarged for the fasteners. Prior to doing this, the cowl must be leveled. I set up a saw horse to hold a level just under the cowl. I used two equally sized 4x4 blocks on top of the digital level to set the level of the cowl. On the back side of the cowl, I measured down both sides of the fuselage to ensure that the cowl was not twisted. I fixed this position with some clamps and drilled the holes through the fiberglass and the underlying flanges. Once this was done and all cleoes set, it was amazing how ridgid the cowl was. The front maintained its position even after the saw horse was removed. We're now ready to introduce the bottom cowl.
