Brief Description:  Happy New Year

Time for a wrap up of 2018… and to be honest, I am looking for a better year in 2019! Not that 2018 was all bad, just personally… looking forward to a better year.

2018 marks the 6th full year of building a project that I thought would take me 5 years to build. But as I tell people who ask how I got my estimate so wrong, “How would I know how long it takes to build an airplane – I have never built one before!”

I finished with 209.4 hours logged in 2018 – which was an increase over the prior year (2017=208.3) – which was an increase over the prior year (2016=167.3). I plan to beat the previous year’s hours logged again in 2019 but as I write this on 2/1/19, I am already behind.. Since I really need to clamp down and focus on being more efficient with my time. I did put in over 35 hours on dance studio projects – which are a necessity. This year it was 10 boxes, a bench modification and a 2 dimensional airplane project that was 20’ wide with moving propeller…but now it’s my airplanes turn.

1. I plan to wrap up the canopy skirt – as I currently have a mental path to success and will just need to execute on that plan when the shop is warm enough to cure fiberglass resin.

2. I will then go back and install the wing wiring for the lights and autopilot roll servo as well as the pitot plumbing and then rivet the bottom wing skins and finish the wing tips by mounting.

3. From there I believe it will be time to start laying out the switches and doing the wiring… so that will necessitate me finishing the book, The Aeroelectric Connection, by Bob Nuckolls. I don’t log reading time – but maybe I should.

4. Then on to the engine planning…
