Brief Description:  Galveston fishing trip with the boys

Met the boys down in Galveston for the annual fishing trip and a good time was had by all. I was also supposed to go fly with Bruce Bohannon, the legend, in the RV-8 on Thursday. Bruce runs the Flyin' Tiger flight school down in Angleton, but Bruce had an issue and couldn't make it work, so we will have to do it another time.

Thursday night we met at Mike's house and put his boat in the water for a evening cruise out to dinner at Top Water grill. we ate good fresh seafood and then stopped along the way home at some of the finer watering holes along the bay and Clear Lake - good times, with good friends. We probably shouldn't have stayed out so late as we had to get up for an early trip out on a deep sea party boat out of Galveston. Seas were predicted to be 1-2 foot, but turned out to be 6'-8' and for a 12 hour trip, (4 out, 4 fishing, and 4 back in) 84 miles off shore. It was not what my stomach was looking for. The rough seas and the hangover had me down and out for the first 4 hours - but I battled back to land a couple of nice sized keepers. The trip in was much better than the trip out and we stopped at Tookies, a long-time favorite, for dinner and it was right on!

Saturday was a guided trip in the bay - but the fish were on strike and we only caught one fish...total. First time that has happened... all in all there we lots of reminiscing about our "Good ol' days" with guys I have known for over 50 years.
