Brief Description:  Oshkosh #2

Yeeehaaawww…my second trip to Oshkosh!!! This one was much different from the first trip to "Airplane Disney" which was way back in 2001! This time I was going to scout for things to put in my plane - AND I actually flew in (with Don Eades) in the Cessna 172 and we camped under the wing!

We left Dallas on Saturday instead of Sunday due to potential bad weather in Wisconsin on Sunday. It was a great experience to fly into Oshkosh - one I look forward to doing in the -8. The arrival procedure can be harrowing at times with all sorts of airplanes arriving from all directions into the rendezvous point - but we got lucky our first time in...and we barely saw another plane until we were on the base leg to 36L. They have a T-shirt that says, "I flew into Oshkosh", and I had to get that one. The next one on my bucket list is one that says, "I flew my homebuilt to Oshkosh"! The weather was fantastically cool at night and the occasional shower/storm during the day to keep it interesting – but a great trip!
