This weekend I went down to Matagorda island for a get together with a group of guys I grew up with. We were all in high school together, and some of these guys I have known - even back to elementary school - the oldest of the friendships goes back to 1965! Anyway, We try to do a few get-together's each year usually doing a snowboarding trip or two in the winter and a fishing trip or two in the summer. This was a typical trip with lots of memory making and reminiscing about the, "good old days" - we always eat really well on these trips and it's always a great time with some great people.
But I also found out that one of my best friends has cancer. Steve (aka - "Rhino") is my age and we have known each other since the 6th grade. We have been friends since the early days and remained friends all along. Earlier this year Steve moved to San Antonio, but before that we used to eat lunch together every few weeks. Steve is a fighter - if there ever was one - and I think cancer picked the wrong man to mess with. Cancer happens all the time and I have known many people with it...but I have to say, this one hit close to home. So - get out that bucket list if you don't already have one. Most airplanes builders I know are in the middle of checking off their bucket list - but if you come across this site, thinking about building an airplane or doing something, "bucket list" related. Don't wait - start today. Every day is a gift from God - we don't know what tomorrow holds...have no regrets.
