Wednesday was my second, and last day at SnF and there was a lot of vendor intel that Bob and I still needed, so we were mostly in the hangers all day. I did get to meet Paul Dye, a moderator on “Match.com for airplane people” (VAF). Paul is another fantastic guy that has been an invaluable source of information for me personally thru his many responses to my questions (and to many others as as well). You see, Paul just retired from NASA as the lead flight director for the shuttle program and his new gig is the editor in chief of Kitplanes magazine. He built an RV-8 which first flew back in 2005. He has also built an RV-3 (picture #2 below) with his wife, who also has an RV-6. 3 planes between the two of them…is that cool or what?!
So, there was really a lot more to say, like that my flight was delayed out of Orlando for 8 hours….but all in all – a super-fantastic trip! Wish I could have stayed longer and already planning for more – but now it’s time to get back to the build so I can fly to these fly-ins!
