Brief Description:  Fab the parking brake cable brackets

Bob showed me how he is going to attach his parking brake cable actuator and I thought I would look at how it would work for my setup. Bob has done a lot of work on making his consoles and arm rests larger and has moved his throttle back a bit, so what works for him might not work the same for me, but we shall experiment and see. Bob provided a lot of intel showing me how he made his and even provided me with the 1/16" angle to make the brackets. He let me know that the gear tower slope is 18 degrees so if I make the curve of the bracket 18 degrees, then it will be parallel to the floor. Thanks Bob!

So, I took my time fabricating the two brackets, using my handy dandy compass and measuring for the diameter of the cable assembly at the attach points. Then I plugged the radius into the compass to get the proper hole diameter and drew it on the aluminum angle. I fabbed it so that the brackets had an outside curve by 1/2" diameter so that there would be a nice 1/4" border around the hole. They took a long time to make but would have taken a lot longer without the head start from Bob. They turned out nice and look good – although the parking bake assembly does stick out a bit. I don’t think it would be in the way, but I am going to look at how it might go thru the gear tower. The disadvantage of putting it thru the gear tower is that those towers are already going to be cramped with other things like wire, fuel vent lines and brake lines. More decisions.
