Brief Description:  B. Cypering and install work on the smoke system

Bob and I spent a big chunk of time today working out how best to install the smoke pump and oil plumbing to the firewall. Seems simple enough, but the challenge was to design the installation while thinking about how to best make use of the quick release hose option. I opted for the quick release fitting on the oil hose and electrical connection so that I could take the pump/tank hose assembly out and use the lower deep well for baggage when needed. As part of this option, I wanted to mount the oil pump to the oil tank - another option I took advantage of.

We worked it out and then began cutting the hose for the various connections. Tank to pump, pump to flow control valve, flow control valve to quick disconnect, quick disconnect to firewall T. Then we used the super slick, "clamptite tool" (https://clamptitetools.com/ ) and stainless steel wire to make the hose clamps. This is a superior method of securing the hole vs. the typical worm drive hose clamps. More secure and lighter.

Made a quick call to Marvin Homsley, the manufacturer of the Smoke-System Helper (https://www.smoke-system-helper.com/) for a quick consult on glue to use as the glue with the kit was past expiration ( I waited too long to get around to gluing the pump). With all the hose fittings made and secure, we measured and then glued the pump to the tank with JB weld. Marvin has a great system - can't wait to start smoking :)
