Looking for something to work on I pulled down the box with the smoke system hardware, pump and tank. I pulled the piece of tape off of the smoke tape pad and it pulled the backing off the pad to reveal the open cells. Since the edges were also open cells I decided to tape them up for the future in case the come in contact with some oil or moisture it won't ruin the pad. I also marked it.
I bought the option to mount the pump to the tank as well as the quick release fittings in an effort to make the smoke system semi-portable. The idea being that when I need more baggage space, I can pull out the pump/tank assembly and save the weight and gain the extra room...but I also hear that guys with the smoke system like having the smoke more than the extra baggage room so we will see how often it gets removed.
