Brief Description:  ELT mounting platform

I got the ELT platform mounted today – at least with clecos. To accomplish this, I fabricated up the lower angle – which just means I had to take some off the edge of the aluminum angle so it would slide under the longeron and fit flush. Without taking some off the edge, the material at the 90 bend of the longeron would be in the way. Next, I used the 90 degree drill and made the holes in the upper and lower longerons to accept the new angles and then I match drilled the angles for those same holes in the longerons. Lastly, I took some .025” scrap aluminum sheet and trimmed it until it fit between the longerons – this was a multi iterative process of marking how much to take off and then trimming the sheet – followed by holding the sheet up to the angles to see where more trimming was needed. I stopped short of drilling the sheet to the angles and I have the sheet clamped on as I feel like the sheet needs to be stiffer. I thought about re-cutting the part with a thicker piece of aluminum sheet – which would be easy at this point since I already have the dimensions but it would be much heavier. So I decided to add some .025” stiffeners to the current platform.
