Brief Description:  ELT mount and shop clean up

I ordered up some fiberglass materials based on a list that my Virginia buddy Rob gave me...most of it came in already but I am not quite ready to dive into that as I still need a few more miscellaneous bits. Therefore, I am looking back to the ELT installation that my other buddy, also named Rob, this one from North Texas had done on his -8. Texas Rob used a sheet and two angles mounted to the two longerons in the area under the aft baggage compartment shelf. I am going off of a picture that I took, but I can't find that picture so I am going off of memory. Well, kinda, as I asked Rob for another picture and some intel...that I am now waiting on.

But I skipped ahead - earlier tonight, I remembered enough to know that there were two angles so I measured and cut one to fit on the upper/middle longeron, cutting a gap in the middle to fit around the middle platenut. As I thought about the layout of the angles, the skin, how the mount was riveted and when the rivets are driven in the angle/longeron and the angle/sheet and I am guessing that Rob used blind rivets.

Some more backstory - the ELT (Emergency Locator Transmitter) needs a sturdy place to be mounted in the "aft" part of the fuse where it is most likely to survive a crash. In the event of a crash the high impact will cause a distress signal to be transmitted. Along with the emergency transmission, my last known location will be sent as my GPS will also be hooked up to the ELT. This will make finding me much easier, if needed. It is mandated to be installed in my airplane...so I will comply.
