Brief Description: Final Fuse Assembly – Upper Engine Bracket / Longe
Well, I got the 13 holes common with the upper longerons (F-887), Upper Engine mount bracket (WD-802) and the Upper Angle (F-801C) riveted tonight. Three of the holes only connect the longeron and the upper angle (and use a -6 rivet) – the other 10 holes connect all three parts and the callout is for a -7 rivet, but I wasn’t getting enough rivet with the -7 so I went with an -8. Much better.
I riveted nutplates onto parts as the dimpling was already done before priming - the Outboard stiffener (F-870B) and the throttle quadrant angles (F-865B, F-865C) and then I back riveted the throttle quadrants and stiffeners to the interior side of the Forward side skins (F-820).
Also - Over the past few days I have been finalizing some decisions and I have been talking to a lot of people. I have talked to Grove about their one piece gear – and placed the order (6-8 weeks until delivery), I have discussed fuel injection with Airflow performance – ordered the aux fuel pump and fuel filter, I spoke to Barrett about engine options – still saving money for that one(!) and Whirlwind Aviation about propellers – still waiting to order that one too! It’s been a busy and mental few days but I have made some decisions and kicked some other decisions down the road for now – and other final decisions will have to wait for the significant cash pile to accumulate…
