Brief Description:  Preparing Fuse Parts for Final Assembly - 6

Teresa was sitting tight at work since the storms that rolled thru the area were not finished wreaking havoc on the streets and traffic was a mess. So it was time for more deburring… First I deburred the holes in the bottom flanges of the center section, then the seat ramp supports and the common holes in the inboard seat ribs, the mid bottom skins holes were deburred F-826 and F-827 and then all open holes on the forward fuse structure. Fairly easy except for the insides of the landing gear boxes…

Next it was on to the dimpling – which (for the most part) means using the dimple dies in the pneumatic squeezer which rocks! I dimpled the firewall where common with the forward skins, then the side flanges of the lower forward baggage bulkhead (F-866A), then the four holes in the center aft end of the forward lower skin (F-822)…I still don’t know what those 4 holes are for? Next was the dimpling of the forward floor panel (F-822) along the bottom edge for the 5 holes that nest into the previously countersunk holes in the lower longeron…4 of these are hard to get to, so I used the tight quarters dimple die set (two loose dimple dies with a hole in the center, a nail and the blind rivet squeezer) It was the only way to get to those holes near the LG boxes.

Then the forward skin stiffeners get dimpled - so it was back to the pneumatic squeezer. The nutplate rivet holes in the throttle quadrant angles were dimpled, as well as the rivet holes common to the skins.
