Brief Description:  Center Section - 5) rivet Left Fwd bulkhead

I started the session by installing the 12 AN4-11A bolts (six on each side) and torquing to 60 in/lbs. on the F-804A-2 Center Section Fwd Bulkhead Subassembly – these holes are for the main landing gear on the RV-8A (tricycle gear) version so they just get plugged up on the RV-8. Then I riveted on the 4 nutplates on the F-804A-2 center section forward subassembly, and the 2 nutplates on the F-804C-FL left forward bulkhead.

Then, I temporarily inserted the ¼” close tolerance bolts in the center section and the F-804C-FL left forward bulkhead and riveted the left side forward bulkhead. The bolts are there to correctly align the bulkhead so that the bolts will still be in alignment after riveting the bulkhead. They took some beolube to be able to be inserted into the clecoed assembly – but these are the wing install bolts and you want them to be tight! I have one rivet to drill out because I over-drove it…but that’s all for tonight. In the picture below you can see the bolt (heads) that were installed in the open (RV-8A) holes, the “alignment” wing bolts and the rivets.
