Brief Description: fuel tank wiring & tank installation
Back in the shop tonight as the baseball team is on the road for a few days after their initial 4 game home stand. Baseball games take me away from the shop for game time - but so worth it.
Tonight I wired the right tank fuel sending unit which is on the back side of the tank (baffle). If you recall the flop tube is in the right tank and is installed in the first (innermost) bay of the tank... so the sending unit has to be moved to the second bay baffle and the wiring therefore goes thru the channel between the tank and the wing spar. The wiring consisted of stripping the insulation of the outside of the wire and then crimping the terminal on.
After that - I installed the tanks on the wings, bolted on the 3A bolts to the spar and z-brackets and torqued them to 24 in/lbs. Then I tightened the screws on the outside perimeter of the tanks with the countersunk 8/32" x 1/2" stainless steel machine screws with the torx heads. I haven't marked the bolts with the torque paint - but I will when I flip the wings over on the wing cradle. I still might have to remove the wing tanks, but I am not planning on it... so we will see.
Always good to get back in the shop - planning on a few more hours the rest of the week.
