Brief Description:  Aileron pushrods

Well, while Teresa was still at work, I snuck out into the shop to get back to work on the wings - time to get something done! I dove into the aileron pushrods...which start out as a larger diameter, 12 foot aluminum tube and a smaller diameter 4 foot steel/powder coated tube. The 12' tube gets cut to 69 3/16" to make the W816 pushrod. It connects to the pilot control "stick" on one end and the aileron bellcrank at the other. The 4' tube gets cut down to 23 13/16" (W818) and connects from the bellcrank to the aileron. The way it works is, the tubes are cut within about 1/8" of the proper length with a hack saw. Then the tube is smoothed over on the scotchbrite wheel and reduced down to the exact marked length. Repeat, Repeat, repeat...and I now have the four pushrods cut to the right length and smoothed/deburred.

Next I connect the attachment hardware...It feels good to get some airplane parts made. Time to go see the Father-in-law at the house!
