Brief Description:  final prep of flaps

Since today was forecast to be warm and sunny, I was striving towards the goal of getting some parts primed. The plans are a little vague here with the flaps and it doesn't actually spell out when to final prep each part, bout does mention dimpling the skin way back when the hinge is drilled... and then later on mentions dimple debur and prime.

I could have bent and made the flap actuator plate/angle at this point but I decided to stay the course with the deburring and final prep of the flap skeleton parts and then I will go and bend the plate and form the angle out of raw stock.

So today I deburred the bottom skin where it will be riveted to the top skin, as those joints were just drilled yesterday - both the Left and right skins (L+R). deburred and scuffed the spars (L+R), deburred all of the ribs (L+R), edged all ribs and skins top and bottom (L+R), scuffed all ribs and skins (L+R), and then dimpled both spars, all ribs and all skins (L+R). The dimpling of the top skins took some doing! Due to the unique architecture of the top skin and how the trailing edge comes back under on the bottom side, it took me 5 methods to dimple all the holes in the top skins.

1) DR-DT2 method
2) squeezer method in vice grip
3) squeezer method freehand
4) vice grip dimpler
5) blind puller dimpler - see pick below

Yep, it took all those methods to get it done. But it's now done. Then I cleaned all the skeletal pieces in MEK, and then primed them. Wheew!

I might get some flap work in tomorrow - otherwise I will be jumping back to the wings as a helper will be here next week and it will be the perfect time to rivet the top skins on. Finally.
