Brief Description:  Skin test fit - Wing assessment

Tonight's work was one of those days in the project that not a lot gets done, but still, it was a milestone of sorts... I wondered how much needed to be taken off the scarf joint, where the skin overlap meets the tank. I was under-scarfing on purpose so as not to over-scarf... Anyway, thinking about the scarf and rolling the edges, I just decided to put the bottom skins back on the wing and look at how things were going together. With that bit of success, I then wanted to see how the leading edge matches with the skin...and I might as well get the tanks placed where they go to get the "full" picture, right?

So, after retrieving the tanks from the office and the leading edges from their temporary storage - I clecoed them in place. The left wing tank took a little "finagling" because of the amount of ProSeal on the back of the skin/baffle, but it eventually went on nicely. Part of it was me being ultra-careful not to mess things up - but as I said, the result was a really nice fit.

I then sat back and smiled in appreciation for a great design! Thanks, Van - that someone like me can fit pieces together that make airplane parts is a really neat thing!
