Brief Description: Right tank sender unit float work
I bent the right tank sender unit. It would be nice to have been able to use the left tank float wire as a guide, but since this is going in the inverted tank (right tank) it is attached to the baffle of bay #2, instead if the inside rib of bay #1…so the geometry of the tank is different. In the end, I had to make 4 “coat hanger prototypes” to get the lengths and the angles just right before I was satisfied. But all in all it worked out great.
I did end up bending the first 90 degree the wrong way, so the “Shepherd’s crook” is on the top side when the tank is full/float is “up” instead of the bottom side…oopps. I debated whether to go buy another 3/32” rod and make another one, but I noticed that the shepherd’s crook had a lot of distance that wasn’t contacting/holding the float, and knew I could just file that part off and be ok. I did make sure that the crook did not contact the top of the tank skin before and after filing down the crook, and to make extra sure, I pro-sealed the end of the crook so if it ever does contact the skin, the proseal will touch and it won’t be metal to metal contact.
