Brief Description:  another wing skin

With the Van’s parts order arriving on Monday, I had all the parts I needed to return to the wing build. I wasn’t sure what to expect with the wing skin, being that it is soooo big, but Van’s knows what they are doing – they rolled it up on itself. On a side note, when the UPS guy appeared with my box from Van’s, the box looked like it had been drop kicked into the bottom of the truck before all the other heavy packages were loaded on top of it… but to my amazement, the skin was undamaged. You may be asking why I needed a wing skin… well, after flipping the wing on the stand to access the other side, my wing-moving helper decided to shift his end a little, which caused the wing to come off the other end of the stand. Luckily, It only fell a few inches and hit the middle support. The only point of impact was on the top skin where it overhangs the trailing edge – and although I “massaged” it for a while trying to straighten it out – but since it is the top skin and would be seen by me ALL the time – I decided to replace it.

All that to say, tonight I re-drilled the top right skin and re-installed it on the wing with clecos.
