Brief Description:  finished wing stand, doublers drilled, top skins o

Got a lot done today - with a marathos session with Skyking Bob! Started out by finishing up the guts on the wing stand. Things always take longer than expected - and finishing the wing stand was no exception. For starters, I needed a new blade for the band saw and that took some doing to find... had to go to Lowe's to find some replacement blades after the local Ace hardware and HD didn't have any. Then just getting everything measured, cut, installed, just took more time than one would expect!!

After getting the wing stand done, we put the wing skeleton's on the stand and installed the middle/lower support that takes the sag out of the wing. The skeleton is supported on each end therefore it will sag in the middle without the rear spar support. The really neat way you determine how much support is needed is to run fishing string from the first to the last rivet holes along the main spar. Before you take the sag out the fishing line is way above the rivet holes in the middle of the spar - but then you turn the allthread, raising it up, and you just watch the spar move up to the string...ezpz.

Before we could hang the skins on the skeleton, we had to cut a piece of 10" x 48" sheet aluminum down to 9 3/8" x 26" - so it would fit as the wing walk doubler. The wing walk doubler gives added support where people will be entering and exiting the airplane via the wing. Bob made the long cut with the new-er band saw blade and I used the sheers. They turned out real good. After cutting and filing - we clamped it to the skin and matched drilled it to the same holes in the top skin.

after that - we clecoed the two top skins to each wing. Tomorrow we should get some good drilling done! WOW - lots done today! Thanks Sky!!!
