Brief Description: Drilled the right tie down/spacers
Got out in the shop for a quick session until the Mother's Day morning arrives... drilled the right side tie-down assembly and the spacers for that side. No pictures of that since it was same as yesterday. I then drilled the lightening holes in spacers...a fairly easy preocess - made the measurement drilled a pilot hole - then set it up in the drill press and drilled them out. My unibit goes to 3/4" - and the plans say drill it to 1"...so I guess a trip to the Lowe's aviation aisle is in order. Easy breezy with the right tools!
Update : Went to the Lowe's aviation aisle to pick up the tap and die set, and the 1" unibit the next day..."HOLY SCHMOLY, BATMAN...THEY WANT $49 FOR THE 1.25" UNIBIT!!" That seems like a lot, I will pass. My RV-8 will be an extra 0.00158 of a pound over weight as I am going to leave those lightening holes at 3/4" instead of 1"...remind me to run an extra 5 minutes on the treadmill tonight :)
