Brief Description:  Working on the B-29, "FiFi" #3

After a few pieces of pizza and a Dr. Pepper it was time to get back to work. Henry, whose shirt was titled, "B-29 Appearance Manager" asked if we were ready to do some wing walking? I said, "Sure!" I guess I said it fist, (or whatever it was - just luck?) so he said, "Follow me and we will get you some kneepads". We both put on kneepads (it's a hands and knees cleaning operation) and gloves and then he showed me how to climb up on the ladder, grab the engine mount housing, and pull myself up on the wing. The ladder was at the left wing but it had already been cleaned so we walked on the wing, across the fuselage and over to the right wing. There he gave me instructions on which parts of the wing I would be responsible for cleaning and which parts he would be cleaning. Henry took the outer wingtip and the trailing edges and since I was a B-29 top wing rookie, I had the leading edges and the interior wing as the slope was much less on the leading edge than the trailing edge. I must say it was really SUPER COOL to be up on top of the wing of a B-29. I mean really, how many people get to stand on top of a B-29? Way cool! When Henry went down to get some more cleaning solution, I snapped a quick selfie as I wouldn't want him to see me slacking off. I had to get a picture of this historic event.
