Brief Description:  Weekend of airplane activities - Inspiration!

I had a great weekend of inspirational airplane visits! Saturday, I meet up with Steve, who just finished his RV-8 and has flown off the phase 1 hours and is now into phase 2. Steve moved closer to me recently so I got the chance to meet up with him and see his beautiful airplane after following his build on the web. Steve is a great guy - happy to help out with the knowledge that comes with building an airplane and it was very inspirational to see the beautiful, finished product! Someday....

Sunday, I went out to the Commemorative Air Force airshow with my buddy Rob, from Virginia. Rob was in town to fly his T-6 in the airshow and also to hand off the 6 (a piece of history) to the CAF! Rob and his partners owned the T-6 for a while when they started looking into the history of the airplane. Long story short, Rob's T-6 was built in Texas and trained WASP pilots in Sweetwater, TX. When the CAF heard about it's history, they had to have the airplane - and Rob and the partners did the honorable thing and sold their airplane to the CAF. This weekend’s airshow was the ownership transition - they flew the 6 to Dallas and went home commercial. It was bittersweet for Rob and the partners but they are already looking for another airplane. I was really glad they let me hang out with them, watch the airshow and have a front row seat to a neat slice of history. Additional inspiration!
