Brief Description: Horizontal Stabilizer Spar Service Bulletin #1
Bob and I started the horizontal stabilizer service bulletin today. As stated in the synopsis : "Cracks in the forward spar of the horizontal stabilizer have been found eminating from the stress relief notch at the inboard end of the spar flanges." The service bulletin says that you have to, "Inspect before further flight and at each annual condition inspection until such time that this service bulletin has been complied with in its entirety." So - I figure it's not going to ever get easier than now to add the doubler to the spar.
Bob and I were able to remove the elevators and all the connecting hardware and then I started drilling out the pertinent 3/32" rivets. Bob took the time to overhaul my air drill by flipping the o-ring over as it was allowing blowby and not always spinning. A huge help getting that drill back into 100% service as it has been acting spotty lately. I finished all the skin to rib rivets tonight.
