Brief Description:  clean and prime left elevator substructure

Today I continued the prep work until the trim tab and trim spar arrive...not too exciting, the usual, dimple, clean, prime. I also noticed when I pulled back the vinyl on the elevator bend that there was a small hairline crack at the back of the elevator bend...I had to zoom some pictures of it as I couldn't tell if it was a "shadow", "bend" or "crack". I am hoping that the guidance suggests to RTV this spot so that I don't have to order a new elevator skin.

In the picture below it appears as if the crack is in the vertical, from the trailing edge...but that is a shadow. The crack is horizontal, and runs right to left. I will get a picture with the good camera.

Edit : I received word back from Van's and Gus said to just stop drill it and then I can put RTV or JB weld in there to hold it/seal it. Gus also said that the RTV might well keep the crack from spreading, but the stop drill would be extra "insurance".

Will do.
