Brief Description: Bending rudder leading edge - 107.0 hours
Bent the leading edge of the rudder this morning. It didn't go as smooth as the practice kit did, but in the end it turned out good. The pipe bend method, with the 1/2" pipe leaves the leading edge with a bit of a 90 degree radiused bend on both sides with a gap in the middle (see pics #1 and #2)...and so I had to massage the corners into more of a gradual slope. In the end the bottom portion of the leading edge is supposed to be 1 3/4" from the spar...nailed that one right at 1 3/4"...and for the top, the spacing is supposed to be 1 5/8" and I am off 1/32"...so close enough. Done for the year...Happy New Year - be safe out there.
107.0 Hours on the project in total.
intial bend done - now it needs work and massaging
