Anxious call to Van’s at 3:30pm Pacific Time (the very beginning of their builder support hours). Well, 17 minutes of discussion with Ken Scott and I was feeling much better about myself, and this aluminum project. Turns out, leaving the HS-609’s where they were was not a problem. Because the parts are identical, I can just leave them where they are, re-mark them as “bottom top” and “top bottom” and drill out the slightly mis-matched skin in the HS-603. Most of the holes were dead-on, but I did have to re-drill some of them. Ken explained that this wouldn’t be a problem either structurally or cosmetically. He had a lot of good quotes during that 17 minutes – the one I liked the best, (Other than “you are ok”) is, “You just want to build an airplane that you are not ashamed of or afraid of”. Thanks Ken, for bringing me back off the ledge. Last night I was thinking I needed to order $300 worth of replacements! However, I know there will be a day that I will make a reorder mistake…
Started on the Front Spar Assembly Drill/match drill all the holes inboard of the HS-404/HS-405, tapered the ends and made bends in HS-810-1 and HS-814-1
