As promised, Picture one shows the beautiful job Connie did on the case halve. The two pieces on top and bottom (four total) of silk thread are what are used for a gasket between the cases. Properly done, that is all that is needed and what is best for keeping the oil on the inside of the engine.
The second picture is before the case halves are together with the bearings, lifters, and cam in place. The third pic is the second / left case half going on, so pardon the reverse chronological order on these logs.
