Brief Description:  Front cockpit lighting

With the switching and wiring worked out it was time to get the lights put in the cockpit. First, I climbed into the cockpit, laid down and looked into the path of the front cockpit lights. I also climbed back in and cleaned up the surfaces that the light strips would be sticking to.

Before sticking the LED lights in place, I felt it was a good time to switch out the brass screws that hold the rails on. Bob had sent me the stainless steel screws as they are better and do not strip as easy.

I climbed back into the cockpit, laid down and started pulling the paper backing off of the white LED strip and started laying it in place. I had already striped the wires, inserted the shrink tubing for the label and then crimped the terminals on. I laid in the white light and then did the same with the red light and then did the post-install test. White was good - Red has a short in the middle...Doh!

I decided to strip out the RED lights and using the extra that I have in stock, install a new strip. BUT, I drilled some new holes in the F-804 forward and aft center section bulkheads to route the lights. I got the red lights installed and called it a day.
