Brief Description:  Left Wing prep work

With the Right wing mostly complete it was time to prep the left wing for the move to the workbench. I started by moving the wings outside and cleaning up the shop a bit and then removing the aileron. Next it was the left tank that needed to be removed so I took off the screws holding the tank on as well as the bolts. The outward facing screws were easy to get to, but the inward facing screws took more ingenuity. I first tried to rig up a way to get the torx head drive in the angle drill attachment - but no luck

I found the right tool in my father's tool chest - a flexible screwdriver attachment that would allow me to get to the torx head on the screw while keeping the drill out of the way. This was when I was reminded of the one screw that sheared off when I was installing the tank on the wing. There was enough of the head left to hold the tank skin in place, but not enough to get a torx head fitting on...I was going to have to remove it some other way.

I don't think it was really holding the tank on all by itself, but the tank would not budge...I climbed underneath and tried to wiggle it loose, but it was all for naught...the tank would not come loose.

I let that project a rest and worked on the wing skin that needed priming...
