With the outer skin rivets done, it was time to re-install the fuel tank and rivet the bottom wing tip hinge - a good way to start off the new year.
I picked up a beam type torque wrench as they are easier to tell the amount of drag on the bolt/nut. The fuel tank is held to the main spar with 3/8" bolts into nut plates and some of the nut plates have a little bit of drag on them so that gets added to the torque value for proper torqueing. I did this for all 21 of the bolts and made sure that the fuel tank was secure. Then I attached most of the torx screws to the flange until I realized I don't have enough and need to order more. Good for now.
Next was the wing tip hinge - which was very easy with the pneumatic squeezer.
For a review of 2020 hours, I logged 323.6 hours, which was the most hours since 2014 and the third most hours ever. A good year overall as I bought the engine this year and made progress on the goal of building and finishing my airplane. More to come in '21...as Bob and I keep telling each other - "Get 'er done in '21!"
