Brief Description:  Flying w/ Joe to Cedar Mills

Bob and I met up with Joe at his house/hanger at 7:30am and the white and blue Cessna 182 was already out of the hangar, pre-flight(ed), and ready to go. A few minutes later, Joe, Bob and I were loaded up and headed out . After departing the driveway and the nearby trees, Joe asked me if I would like to taxi out to the runway, which I happily did. Joe then let me handle the take-off and initial cruise. I hadn't planned on flying - especially not so early in the flight, but I was glad to do it and appreciated the opportunity - it was good to get back to some flying - it's been too long. Joe had recently installed his ADSB in and out and it was interesting watching all the bogeys popping in and out of our airspace. I never doubted the usefulness of ADSB – but seeing it in action makes me look forward to it even more.

Upon arrival at Cedar Mills – we deplaned and checked out some of the 7 airplanes that were there before us. Right next to us was an RV-8, and behind us landed an RV-6. There were also some Huskies, a Carbon Cub, a Glastar and a Cessna 140. We happened to be the only tricycle gear aircraft there. The grass strip is in excellent condition so it wasn’t a factor. After checking out the other hardware, we walked up the road to the marina breakfast eatery, Pelican's Landing. It was a good stop with a hearty buffet breakfast and nice views of the marina and lake. We walked right by the petting zoo on the way to breakfast . After filling up we strolled back to the airplane and boarded up for the return flight. It was a great flight both ways and a very enjoyable trip. Thanks again, Joe!
