Brief Description:  Practice Micro Mesh process

Back in the shop after travels, vacation, yardwork and blah, blah, blah ...did I mention how hot the shop is in the summer time?

I have a few small blemishes on the canopy where the primer leaked under the tape and etched the plexi. But before taking sandpaper to my beautiful canopy, I wanted to practice the micro mesh process on a non-critical piece. Awhile back I prepared a piece of the cut canopy flange and dropped primer on one section and prime/sika on another section. I then wrote on the back side of the plexi in silver sharpie "Just Primer" and "Primer / Sika" for future practice. I thought for sure I had taken a picture of the original part with all the defects - but when preparing this log, I couldn't find the original...

Oh well, tonight I started with a box blade and scraped off the primer to the point where the "black" primer was all gone - picture #1. The next step is to take #400 sand paper and sand the defect/scrapped surface that used to be primer in an alternating horizontal and vertical, 90 degree motion, NOT circular.

Cleaning with clean cotton rag and water or compressed air between sanding, I next cycled thru the micro mesh "sandpaper" from #1500 to #6000 until all the blemish was gone - cleaned up the surface with water and then "polished" it with the micromesh product. I was surprised how good it came out. Confidence boosted, on to the canopy.
