Brief Description:  Last of the cosmetic layers…almost

I pulled the canopy assembly (I like the way that sounds) off of the fuselage and placed it upside down on the workbench to pull the inside canopy skirt bond line tape off. After pulling the tape off I determined that there were a few spots on the underside of the canopy frame bar – where the canopy, frame and skirt all intersect – that could use a little TLC. This likely won’t be visible to the passenger, unless they are small – but I did it anyway.

I also decided that since I was getting low on sika in this tube that I would do the cosmetic coat on the front side of the canopy bow – which will be visible to me and everyone that enters the airplane or looks inside the open cockpit. This is a highly visible area J. So I cleaned and taped the bow and then went thru the 3 steps of sika to finish the look.

While I was waiting on the primer I made a cardboard match of the storage cover so that I can design a storage door – but that’s another shop session.

I still will have the canopy bow to sika and will probably do the cosmetic coat at the same time as the bonding as I am a much better sika-man now.
