Brief Description: Sanding & redo of the glasswork
For some reason, the slurry mix didn't adhere well on the fiberglass rudder cap fillet. Specifically, where the slurry was laid over the aluminum it was chipping off. Not sure why, I guess I didn't do a proper prep of the aluminum for the slurry bonding. So instead of fighting it, I just removed it back to the aluminum and sanded the transition down smooth. I really didn't need the extra slurry, so why not just save the weight.
After cleaning up and sanding the rudder cap, I wanted to see how close I was getting to a paint- ready finish so I taped it off and sprayed it with filler primer. The filler primer fills the very small pin holes and dries to a matte finish so that you can see any dips, valleys and imperfections.
After spraying the rudder cap, I sanded and sprayed the right HS/Elevator glass tips (on top) as well as the VS rudder tip.
