Brief Description:  ELT stiffeners V2.0

I began tonight’s session thinking about where to position the stiffeners on the ELT mounting sheet. My thought was to place them where they wouldn't interfere with the nuts/washers/bolts of the mounting tray of my particular ELT, which are 5.5" apart. Thinking that if I kept the perpendicular side of the stiffeners inside of the bolts, then I would be able to get a wrench in behind the sheet if needed. (It won't be fun, but will be do-able). Then I decided a better move would be to tie the mounting tray into the stiffeners by making the parallel portion of the stiffener wider... Soooo... that's what I did. Back to the scrap parts to fab up some more stiffeners.

It took the longest time to figure out where I wanted to place them on the sheet, where the ELT would eventually be, how to make it fit slightly aft on the sheet as the wires protrude out of the front of the ELT. I also measured the ELT reference angle as the manufacturer specifies that the ELT longitudinal axis should be within 10 degrees of the aircraft centerline - it was 6 degrees off, so we are good there.

I had the stiffeners clamped where I wanted them so I couldn't get a ruler in there for nice rivet spacing, so I eyeballed the rivet placements and marked with the sharpie, then center-punched the marks and drilled the holes, clecoing as I went.
