Brief Description:  Van's Static system #1

I debated whether or not to use the Van's static system or order the SafeAir system. In the end, after looking at the Van's system - I like the fact that it is a simple system...it's a light weight system. .. and at this point it is free - compared to the SafeAir system.

I started by measuring to proper location to drill the static port - which is a blind rivet. I measured, drilled, deburred, then inserted and installed the two blind rivets. Next I drilled out the mandrels so that the static port was hollow.

From there, I installed the bulkheads, (riveted them in place) then I cut the first bit of tubing and inserted the T-fitting and then ran the rest of the tubing over to the other side static port. The larger I.D. tubing that runs to front of the aircraft has to be transitioned with a small cut of the smaller tubing, and that was a little time consuming. From there, I drilled out some of the bulkhead s that I hadn't done previously due to a little bit of confusion on my part, but then ran the tubing up to the front thru the hole/channels.

I cleaned up the inner skins and RTV'ed the tubing to the static ports to secure them. Then Zip tied the tubing to the bulkhead as per the plans.
