Brief Description:  2...Taping off the parts I don't want paint on

Starting at the front, the fiewall is stainless steel and doesn't accept paint very well - besides, it is generally thought to be a no-no to paint the firewall due to the chance of off-gassing into the cockpit in the event of an engine fire. Since I have already primed the aluminum parts on the cockpit side, I will paint those too.

Also on the firewall, there are the engine mount parts which are powder coated. Powder coat doesn't accept paint very well either and you must remove it from the part completely to paint it - so, those parts will stay powder coat white.

The gold anodized center section is such a work of art, I didn't want to paint it, even though it will be covered up with the front seat parts - so I taped it.

The roll bar is powder coated - so no paint. The sections under the floor do not need to be painted as they won't be seen and that would just add unnecessary weight so, they don't get painted. Ditto with everything aft of the rear baggage compartment.

Wow! There was much more taping Involved than I thought there was... In total this was a 10 hour shop day! I couldn't have done it without the rotisserie. Since it looks like another week before the weather will be good for painting, I will "cacoon" the fuse to help keep out the impurities. A long day...good day in the shop.
