Brief Description:  Drill engine mount holes

Since it had been 2 days since I sent in my email question about the firewall holes / engine mount, I decided to call during the afternoon builder support window. Sterling answered and as soon as I told him who I was and what I was working on, he said, “ I thought your name sounded familiar – I have been mulling over your question – sorry I haven’t gotten back in touch with you”. We discussed the options, and here is what he came up with…

1. Drill the top two holes at 3/16” using the pre-drilled firewall holes (as the top two mount holes were already centered on those holes) as a guide.

2. Using a 3/16” bolt, fasten the engine mount using just the top two holes and let the engine mount settle (since the engine mount holes are 3/8”) to the bottom of the 3/16” bolt

3. Drill the bottom holes where they lay on the firewall to 3/8” using the engine mount holes as a guide

4. Bolt the bottom two holes to the firewall using 3/8” hardware

5. Unbolt the top holes 3/16” hardware and drill to 3/8”. (In the end, I drilled the 3/8" holes in the same, centered 3/16" holes as the drill kept wandering into the 3/16" hole and the weldment/mount adjusted easily)
