As I had built these elevators many moons ago, I had to pull them out of the office where they have been stored, dust them off a bit, and fit them to the horizontal stabilizer. The “new” horizontal outer edges have not yet been trimmed so the elevators, once installed with temporary hinge pins, where locked into the trailing position. I marked the amount of the horizontal that needed to be trimmed for the elevator clearance and then used a #12 drill bit to drill the corner to make the corner ”round”. With the elevator removed, I drilled and cut along the lines top and then did the same on the bottom of the HS until I was happy with the elevator clearance of the HS at the left and right elevator. I still need to debur the HS at the cuts, but I will do that with the HS off of the Fuse.
I was pleasantly surprised that the holes drilled in the elevator horns lined up perfectly with the VA-146 bearing hole when I test fit the bolt.
