Brief Description:  mid cabin covers

I first got the inboard holes drilled for the fuel selector angles. That took a lot on on-and-off with the angles, then marking, measuring and drilling. I countersunk the holes so that the mid cabin cover would sit flush. Next it was on the mid cabin covers where I installed them with enough screws to align the holes. I had a slight mis-hap when one of the nut plates was not pre-tapped and the screw hung up and I stripped it. I ended up drilling out the screw head - and was going to drill out the rest of the screw, but it was easier to just drill out the plate nut rivets and remove the entire plate nut. I tapped a new plate nut and then riveted it back in place.

Back to the match drilling the 2 out board holes. I needed the angle drill to get to them but they came out well. I am debating whether or not to use the right side mid cabin cover and build a storage compartment below it like I have seen others do. The RV-8 is somewhat limited in storage so it could come in handy...or maybe just a drink (water bottle) holder?
