Brief Description:  F-861-PP Gear covers (A)

The gear covers do not get worked on until page 8-41, but I didn't want to leave any unknowns for later when I started riveting the lower front skins...so today I worked on getting the outboard gear covers fitted and drilled for the fuel vents and to fit with the one piece gear. The first thing to do was to remedy the interference of the strengthening bend in the inboard side. On a two piece gear, there is no gear at this point for the cover to interfere with - but with a one piece gear, it is in the way. I like having a bend there to maintain the rigidity of the cover, so I decided to put another bend in it and have it nest under the cover in the center which is part of the F-850 bottom skin.

Then I needed to measure, cut, bend and smooth the outboard side so that it did not interfere with the gear attach brackets on the outboard sides. I decided to again, bend them under to help keep the rigidity.
