Brief Description:  Landing gear

Today I returned to the landing gear. First order of business was flipping the canoe over and leveling the forward section that the gear is bolted to - like last time, front to back and side to side. It took a while to hone in on the 0 degree levels and I decided to build a stand for the aft end as I didn't want to depend on the spring loaded chair bottom, With that done, I started tweaking the location of the gear and making measurements. I strung the plumb bobs thru the axel holes on the gear and measured with the laser measure from the plumb bob line to the side of the fuse. The magic middle ended up being 1' 9 1/2" on each side. That's at least the preliminary measurement as I won't make the final measurements until I have a second set of hands for the forward skin rivets and screw/nuts. Many of those screws and rivets have to be accessed thru gear towers and that's defiantly a 2 person job.

The left side attach bracket fits nicely over the grove gear in the correct spot, but the right side bracket doesn't. I spoke to Grove and they said to remove some of the landing gear width but do not remove any material off of the bracket - so that's what I will do. It shouldn't take long as it's just a couple of 1/1,000 of an inch.
