Brief Description:  SV-1 cockpit air vent in fuselage

I decided that after the forward skins go on, it would be more difficult to prep the skin for the SV-1 vent. Basically, the "prep" entails removing the primer so that the vent, which is glued on with tank sealant, has a good, clean surface to grip to. I first layed the vent down where I wanted it to end up and drew a line around the vent. I then taped off outside the line and removed the primer inside the tape with lacquer thinner. Then I scuffed up the contact side of the vent and mixed up some tank sealant. The rest was easy, I smoothed the sealant onto the vent contact surface and carefully placed it in the correct place and then pressed down on it. I came back after an hour or so and pulled the tape off so that the sealant didn't dry to it.

I was wishing I had the other vent for the wing as I had plenty of tank sealant mixed up - but alas, for some reason I only ordered one extra. I will have to order another one or two for the wing/wings. Yes, I have been pondering putting in two vents, one under each wing, instead of just the single vent that is speced as it gets hot here in Texas.
