Installed Rod End Bearings and Jam Nuts on both Elevators per the callouts in Figure 1, Detail A.
Temporarily installed Left Elevator and checked for proper clearances and freedom of movement. Final checked and adjusted Left Elevator for 30 degrees Up and 25 degrees Down Travel. Once adjustments are confirmed I tightened Jam Nuts on Elevator Rod End Bearings to 180 in/lbs.
Secured the Elevator in the Trail position with Duct Tape.
Page 11-3:
Had to file down E Drill Bushing to get to .250dia.
Inserted the E Bushing into the VA 146 Elevator Bearing then match drilled the WD 605-L-1 Left Elevator Horn using the E bushing as a guide.
Removed Left Elevator and Final Drilled hole in WD 605-L-1 Horn to 1/4" and deburred.
Repeated the above Steps for the Right Elevator as well.
Installed both L & R Elevators on HS and Duct Taped them in the Trail Position.
Identified that the left elevator was most aft and then drilled a 3/16 hole as per instructions in Figure 3.
Measured distance between L & R Elevator Horns (.625") and made a block to fit between and drilled a 3/16 hole in the block 1/2" from end with milling machine.
Put a 3/16 bolt through the Left Horn with hole init and placed Guide Block against Horn and through Bolt. Clamped both elevators together and drilled 3/16 hole through R Horn.
Removed clamp and guide block and removed elevators fron the Horizontal Stabilizer.
Deburred the holes and set elevators aside for now.
