Brief Description:  Completed Empennage Inventory

Inventory of Empennage kit was completed tonight with final confirmation that all skins were included and in good shape. Also inventoried the spars for the vertical fin and stabilator. This completes work on the inventory of the kit. All parts were accounted for - an amazing job on this by Van's. Parts have been organized and identified by part number and placed on a roll-around wire shelving unit. Larger skins were stored on lower workbench shelves. Protective wrap was removed from the majority of the parts during inventory with the exception of the major skins based on recommendations from a person at Van's that indicated the material should be removed as soon as possible due to the adhesion gaining strength with time. Based on what I found I expect that removal from the primary skins will take some time. Next step is to do some experimentation with several different primer types I have acquired based on use by others to see which one is best suited for my needs. My current plan is to prime the structural components that makeup the assembly but not the inside of the skins. I want to balance a reasonable level of corrosion protection with the potential for added weight and build time increasing.
