During the Christmas holiday break in December 2012 I ran across and add regarding some recently built condo type T hangars in the local area. I went back and forth for several weeks trying to decide if it made sense to buy the hangar or continue to work in my garage. I finally decided that it would make more sense in the long run to have a hangar since I would want to have one once the plane is completed. So subsequently I decided to procure a condo T hangar of ~1048 sq ft at Thun Field - Pierce County airport which is about 25 miles from my home. It was not the closest airport - one is only about 2 miles from me but had the hangar available for what I deemed to be a reasonable price for a newly constructed building. The condo arrange has a lease on the land for 70 years so this will not be any issue for me or the next potential owners someday. The hangar has a 40 foot hydraulic door that fully opens to 12 ft height. Next steps are getting some electrical internal work done for power plugs and lighting and then making the move from my garage.
