Brief Description: Nose gear fire shield extension
Because we moved the engine forward 1 inch with spacers between the engine mount and the firewall, the stock nose gear shield had a gap of 1 inch. It was necessary to fabricate an extension to create a good seal.
Did final trimming on origional shield.
Designed and fabricated a shield extension from stainless steel sheet. Spent all day installing, checking, removing, trimming and reinstalling extension. Must have been on and off 25 times. When all was satisfactory, attached extension to shield with SS pop rivets.
Trimmed seal flap to fit around gear door interrior.
Mounted shield and shield extension to firewall with 4 AN-3 bolts, 8 AN970 washers and all metal lock nuts.
Mounted seal flap to nose gear strut with SS hose clamp.
