Installed the nav light, strobe, trim tab and trim tab servo on the rudder. Needed to make another shaft for the tab to servo connection due to the origional one being a bit too short giving me too much left rudder trim and not enough right.
Fished wire for trim and lights out rudder spar through rubber grommets.
Put rudder on balance jig and found that with paint and other additions it was underbalanced. When I built the rudder, I put bid behind the lead counterweight to secure it in place. Behind that I put 1/2 inch of foam. Behind the foam I put a 2 bid carbon wall. The idea was that if I needed to add weight I could drill one hole, hog out the foam and fill with epoxy/flox/lead shot. This worked perfectly and the rudder is now slightly overbalanced. After cure, I'll drill out todays lead incrementally to achieve perfect balance. (see empennage, 1-22-2008 entry for pictures of this).
